Antlers. Antlers, everywhere. This has really given me the obsession to try and make something big. Little did I know thousands of people were already doing it. Once again, I set out to make something amazing on a budget. My husband scored the antlers from a work college 0$ used bike helmet $4 from a thrift store. Bunch of silk flowers from Michael's $30. Basically, I'm obsessed with silk flowers now! You can portray so much with them and their vibrant colors. At this point they are my biggest expenditure. I probably use more hot glue than any normal person should. I think next to food it's a staple in our house. lol. If something is broken you can bet I've probably already tried to fix it with hot glue. Anyway, this headdress probably totaled around $45 and took a couple days to mount antlers
and get things to dry in place. It was interesting to work with real antlers. I'd recommend that you own a power drill to tackle mounting them on something that requires lots of movement - just to be safe. This is one of those head turning pieces I get asked about alot, and so much fun to make! There was a costume with it, but the head piece was my pride and joy of the set. Can you tell I like draping things everywhere for that wild shamanistic look. XD
